Hi Nicky - deja vu! I just replied to one of your other posts. I am a single parent of six, so 'free time' is a bit of a sorry joke around here...
Well I am a musician as well and sometimes I even get paid to do it! I have the usual problem of not enjoying crowds so I have to put dark glasses on and kind of go inside myself to play, It's very therapeutic and I use music a lot to help my children. If you are able to find me on facebook (I'm on the Wales network) some of my music is there and you can see my children getting involved.
I'm a rugby fan! I like the cricket but may not entirely understand the finer points! I'm also a radio ham.
Was it you I read about that said you were picking up autistic traits? Fascinating. Oh by the way, I am also 'faceblind' to the point that sometimes I don't even recognise my own children immediately. Now that is fun to live with!
If anyone reads this and also has 'prosopagnosia' I would love to hear what it is like for you.
So that's me, pretty much!
Your turn. Maybe someone else can join in?
Another thing us aspergers can't do very well is end a conversation!

Hi,
I love music and I used to play the saxophone. I focus a lot on sports, and baseball is my favorite sport. I coach elite baseball (12-13 years old). Aside from that, my hobbies include playing on the computer (WoW) every now and then, and the rest of my free time, I am involved with different autism organizations in my area.

Hiya, another musician here! I play violin in a hip hop band and I've taught myself enough piano and sax that I can carry a decent tune.
I love using my instruments with the kids where I work, it's important to me that they have access to instruments and music as it can be so theraputic/relaxing or even good to get out some frustration by making a load of noise.
And Nicky, I know what you mean, I love to belt out a song or two but not sure anyone else apreciates it!

Hi there, glad to meet another muso! Yes, definitely music works well with the kids, we made a xmas video which you can see if you find me on Facebook. Art too, anything we can focus on and bring that creativity out.
There needs to be a place to put our 'work', maybe someone can have a word with the management!

It all sounds eerily familiar Deb! I'm a fairly cheerful person, but I can't do the conversation thing very well either. In a way that is a good thing, because I tend to spend more time listening than talking. A lot of people find that to their liking. lol, like my kids for instance.
Have you always had that problem, or do you really think you picked it up from your child?
And while I'm here, does anyone else have hassles with the captcha thing? It thinks I am a bloody 'spambot' !!!

Deb, a few of us have been there and mentioned it and the team are working on it. On the visual perception side, I would love to know how many autistic vs non autistic people regularly get it wrong. I'd love to find some standard tests that I can use to test my visual perception and be able to compare with others. Have you seen that colourblindness test where the affected person can see a different image from 'normal' people? That's where I'm trying to go with this.
Forgive me for saying, but the way you come across I wouldn't be surprised if you found out you're 'on the spectrum'. I am not an expert, just autistic. So I am guessing here. But you are similar to me in many respects.
I hope I haven't put my foot in it! Here we go again with that flamin' captcha, wish me luck!

Argh the flippin' captcha thing is driving me mad too. I do not have autism and I just got it wrong 4 times in a row!! I have come to the conclusion that I am an alien from the planet spam.

Hello
I just wondered what you like to do in your spare time - I love to play the piano and sing (not sure whether anyone else enjoys it, though!!), and also I'm a huge fan of cricket and football. Mind you, I'm not sure Crystal Palace count as a football team ?!
