The snow

Hi all

How are you coping with the snow where you are, did you get it bad.  Here in Medway we got a lot but not as much as other places in Britain.

As for Robert (my ASD son,3) he absolutely loved it, we took him to a local feild untouched by humans and just let him loose, he just ran and ran and ran and laughed all the way round, was really sweet to see him so happy.  He even laughed when i accidently threw a snow ball in his face (ha ha evil dad).  As for his twin sister she liked it for about 10 mins then complain it was too cold.

Luckily the snow is melting a little now and I am back at work, being off work for all that time was ok but much more peaceful here now ha ha

You read my mind, Matt! I was just thinking earlier that a "snow" discussion was definitely in order. Thank you!

Ah...I bet Robert loved that feeling so much. Definitely one of the joys of snow is watching children enjoy it. Their sense of enthusiasm and joy is contagious!

From my office window I can see snow on all the hills in the distance, and it is truly beautiful. But in the city it's all a sludgy, mushy mess. I walked through one of the more popular Bristol city parks this morning and there was virtually no snow left - many a sledder, snowboarder, snowman builder & snowball thrower saw to that!

On Saturday we went for a long walk in the woods and I tried to ambush my husband with snowballs but the snow was so powdery that it wouldn't stick together!

They say we've got more snow starting this evening and picking up quite heavily through the night - supposed to carry on through all day tomorrow. I'm not entirely convinced just yet, as there's been lots of snow in the forecast over the last week but I haven't seen anything yet. Originally it was meant to start snowing on Sunday evening and carry through till Wednesday - so I wouldn't be surprised if the current predictions change. ; )

Well my daughter greeted me this morning with news that it is meant to snow for 16hrs non stop later on.. it looks like a snowy sky so we will have to wait and see. I am just thrilled cos I am child free ... yes they are all back in school !!!

It's all kicked off here, and earlier than predicted! If this is the "light snow" then I dread to think of the heavy snow on the way. Eeeesh!

This Texan is slowly losing her momentum!

I am in the Moray Firth area of Scotland we have had snow since, the the 20th of December,it snowed averyday for at least 2 weeks after that the most was about a foot on hogmany. Our school opened yesturday, to thick snow on the playground, the 3 main school entrances were blocked by heaps of snow sliding off the roof. Its thawing now and melting into a slush, though its got very cold again now.Yesturday he got a shot on somenones sledge laughing with delight, now he wants a sledge.

Hi Elena

So does that mean that you have lots ... doesnt bode well for me tommorrow :(

Lesley, I haven't ever been on a sled before! I really want to try it sometime. I saw one for sale in the antique shop downstairs but it was £120! ...Some sort of German antique. For £120 I wouldn't be taking it out in the snow, that's for sure.

Well Leanne - the "heavy" snow didn't arrive. We just had the light snow, which seemed quite heavy at first but then eased up. We woke up with a few cm of snow this morning, and it's snowing again now so it seems a little more is on the way but nothing too bad.

The schools are closed in Bristol and I hear that some of the busses aren't running as well.

I'm enjoying my view of all the rooftops - sure is pretty, once again!

Hi

The snow came and its still coming.. have had about 4 inches and are back to all schools being closed ....

what joy :)

We have a snow thread!! I have only just found this!

Well, like Leanne, it has started snowing again and hasn't stopped all morning.....I left work early and catching up at home!

It snowed all morning here, but it's not really cold enough to keep the roads icey any longer. As soon as it stopped snowing the roads turned to sludge and cleared off in about an hour's time.

The trees all have snow on them now, so it's gone back to being super beautiful everywhere. Up until now there was snow on the ground but it had all fallen off the trees. It's the trees which, for me, really give that magical feeling.
