Hi |Elena
There is a film on every year at Christmas that's name I cant quite get to come out of my head just now. Something to do with a Miracle on some street/avenue in USA .... anyway I watch it every year .... sad, eh!! Miracle on 34th Street, I think. I do like all the soppy, feelgood films whether it's Christmas or not!
I will tell you what I dont like is the "Snowman" film ..... it drives me crazy!!
At New Year I love the Still Game programmes and the Rev I M Jolly, I think these are hilarious, although you might not get them in England cos they are Scottish programmes.

Oh yes, Miracle on 34th Street. A classic!
Something I really love about the UK is all the Christmast Fairs & Markets. It's so nice to have options beyond the high street, particularly when you can get handmade items and support your local community!

Hi Josie
I watched that film for the first time last week... it made me cry - how sad am I !!
My husband is on a mission to own any and all Christmas related films.. I put them away and get them out Christmas time - so we have been watching all sorts of movies. My fav is the black and white version of A Christmas Carol , the acting is just brill :) The kids on the other hand refuse to watch it because its B&W.

My guilty pleasure last Christmas was the Nigela Lawson TV specials. Love those! I was just remembering them and wondering if they'll be on again this year....
What's everyone doing for Christmas?
I don't usually go home to Texas...it's just too far and I hate busy airports around the holidays. As I kid I was always shuffled back and forth between my mom and dad (divorced) and I even remember one year when I had half of Christmas day with my mom, got an a plane, flew to Austin and had the rest of the day with my dad. It wasn't very fun!
This year I'll be on my own with my husband, here in Bristol. We plan to make a delicious meal and enjoy a nice, long walk (if it's not raining) and some cheesy films & TV specials. At some point in the day we'll be meeting up with my neighbour for some wine. I look forward to getting some work done as well (not on Christmas day of course!). I always have a few little projects that I work on during the time off. This year - scanning some childhood photos and doing some sewing projects!

Hi Claire
Absolutely.. I went decs shopping Jan this year and put them all away and it was a lovely surprise when I opened up my Christmas chest.I also buy Christmas cards in the sales too.. it means I can get lovely handmade cards at a fraction of the price.
Well done you for getting so organised :) I am still buying pressies and I dont wrap until I have finished buying.. not sure why.I need to get a wiggle on.

We have a couple of Christmas discussions going now, but let's have one that's about anything and everything to do with Christmas. What are your Christmas memories? What do you like or dislike about Christmas? What do you want for Christmas? What traditions are important to you?
Etcetera!

I wasn't really feeling the Christmas spirit until I visited Prague last weekend and saw their Christmas Market. Maybe the colder weather is helping too.
When I was a kid I used to adore a few Christmas shows on TV...
- Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer & the Island of Misfit Toys:
This is actually from the early 60's so well before my time, but it showed every year in the States. Not sure if it still does. It's stop-animation and it's pretty cool. You can see a bit on YouTube. I don't know if you got to see it in the UK?
- A Charlie Brown Christmas:
A fixture for every Christmas (to this day) is for me to watch this classic show. It's just so sweet...
See a YouTube clip by clicking here.
- A Muppet Christmas Carol:
I loved this film and haven't seen it in years! I must see it this year for sure.
Here's another YouTube clip.
What was/is your favourite Christmas programme or movie? (Or if you don't wish to answer that question, feel free to take this discussion elsewhere!) : )
