^ Woops, I meant to post mine
Well, although I grew up as a musican my whole life the last 6 years or so have seen me moving into the world of photography. I spend a lot of my spare time studying photography online, reading manuals, practicing, etc. I do a lot of fashion photography projects with a good friend of mine. So far, these are primarily for a local Bristol magazine called "Suit Yourself", but we also work for local shops so they can have good photos on their websites.
I really enjoy it, and although I've got a few years under my belt - I'm still very new to it. There's only so much time outside of work (and I pretty much spend all of that online, haha...), so it moves slowly. I just got a professional-quality flash, thinking that it would be nice and simple to use a flash. Uh...nope. It's opened up a whole other world of things to learn!
But to me that's what life is about - exploring new interests and learning as much as I can, even if only here & there!

Having moved from town to country, I'm getting into the rural way of life. My last house had a back yard but I now have a huge garden so I'm getting into the gardening thing: growing vegetables, clearing brambles etc. I've been researching Cornish hedging ready to plant a new hedge and hubby and I went on a hazel coppicing course a few weeks ago.
I'm doing lots of walking in training for my challenge next year. I've also just purchased a kayak and all the necessary gear (thanks to Ebay) so should be taking to the water quite soon.

Apart from the energetic stuff (walking and kayaking) you are a girl after my own heart. I have been an avid gardener for years (but then both my parents were as well). I also try my hand at the veggies and fruit (not that any of my kids eat them but the rabbit and birds are rather fond!!). I also like to encourage wildlife into the garden so I have bird box that has been home for the last few years to a pair of lovely little bluetits and their offspring. Our next target is to get some hedgehogs into the garden to deal with the pesky slugs.
I have watched a programme on the hazel coppicing and a local country park occasionally has demonstrations on it during their Summer Fayre. I have seen them make wigwams and garden tunnels from "living hazel"; it looked really great.

My big interest as I've mentioned before is true crime, I have a book cabinet with 4 shelves full of true crime books & a section for all my Mario Puzo books (the only non-fiction crime I read). I have everything from Gotti, the 5 mafia families, Donnie Brasco etc, I also have all the DVDS, Godfather, Goodfellas, Gotti & of course the Sopranos box set.

Josie,
We have the most gigantic slugs here. They ate all my butternut squash! I'm also trying to encourage some hedgehogs.
I had a grass snake in my compost bin recently (put a photo on Facebook).

I only wish I had a problem with slugs! (Call me crazy)
I just want an outdoor area...a garden or even just a patch of dirt. ;-)
Sara, I'm impressed that you're kayaking! I had the opportunity to kayak in the Rio Grande back in September but I was too scared of the rapids. Even in calm water it looks like it takes a lot of strength.

Hi
Have you got a verandah or a balcony, Elena? When I lived in a flat I had a balcony and I had it filled with pots growing all kinds of things including fruit and veg!! I also had cheese plants in the house which were taking over the place. My mother used to say I would come home from work one day and wouldnt be able to get in the door!!
Sara, forgot to say before, all three of my kids love kayaking. They were taught at the Outdoor Centre where they were taken when in Primary School for a week of outdoor activity and they have loved it ever since. We sometimes go camping and the site we go to is on the banks of the Firth of Forth and they can do kayaking there and also at Loch Lomond there is a stall set up in the Summer hiring out the kayaks and they like to go there as well.

Ok, so I've got to visit MAGIC and the sensory room, then I'm going to organise a trip up the Glasgow to visit Josie and go kayaking. I love Loch Lomond. We stopped there very briefly on our trip up to Ben Nevis earlier this year.
