*blinks* hello new here

Hi

Im Adrain ( you possibly guessed that by my username anyway! )

My dear wife is also here somewhere ( Devon_Hils ) , so im guessing most know alittle about me already.

So not only do i deal and cope with autisim in the family with my children, i also have to deal with autisim in myself too.

I did very much enjoy todays meeting at Tavistock, and was itching to ask Sarah a buring question for purley my own self help, but sadly just after being able to munch a pasty i had to leave as i could, no longer cope with being in such a noisy place.

What with all the people talking, the two arcade machines buzzing, the coffee machine gurgling and someones mobile phone ringing, i had to run to the car, where all was quite, though i still ended up in bed afterwards with a spliting headache.

Even so, i did take alot away with me, that not only may help me, but also with me and the gang at home, So a huge thanks, certianly to you Sarah as i certainly could not do what you did today and talk about what goes though our heads on a daily basis.

Hi Adrian

Welcome to the group.   Glad you found Sara's day of some help to you even though the surrounding atmosphere was a little difficult to say the least.

We have a neurodiversity room on the forum which is for the use of those on the spectrum so they can chat among themselves without us NTs getting in the way.   We also have another guy on here, Tom Gray, who is a father of five or six kids, a few of whom are on the spectrum and also has a diagnosis of Aspergers himself.  He also runs a facebook site called Aspergers Network.

Hope to hear more from Hilary and yourself.

Hi Adrian,

I'm so pleased you enjoyed my talk this morning. I have to admit, it isn't easy to talk about myself so much but people find it helpful and that can only be a good thing.

I have to admit, those arcade machines were a bit distracting :)

I'm glad you feel able to join this forum. I think you'll find a lot of support here. You might want to have a look at the Neurodiversity Room threads too as there are a few adults with autism who post stuff in there.

Please feel free to ask questions. You can email me if you don't want to post them on the public forum.

Just so you know a bit about me, I have a son with ASD who will be 5 in June and I also have a 1 year old.  Since our sons diagnosis my husband has said he thinks he is on the spectrum too as he sees many similar traits between himself and my son.  I look forward to talking to you more in the future.

Hey Elena,

Yes please, whilst im a total computer nerd ( run my own business ) im totally lost when it comes to facebook, Even though i do have a facebook account - i just a) dont really see the point in it ( maybe thats all part and parcel of being asd ) and b) worry about posting on facebook , and here to be quite honest for fear of making a total twonk of myself ^_^

But yes, please point / link me in the right direction

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

I think we all feel a bit like that at times, but please feel free to post as much as you like here and dont worry about making mistakes or posting something you are not quite sure about....I have felt more and more comfotable posting here as no matter what your opinion or expierience, you wont be judged by us lot!! I have also found it invaluable that there is always an edit button!! (my get out clause if I post something silly !!!)
