Hi Kev, this is definitely something we're considering. We're going to keep the community as it is for the moment, but may well add in a section.
It would be interesting to hear if people would appreciate a separate section for people with autism or would you find it excluding? Please comment!

Personally I like the idea of a section for autistics. After all, all members would be still able to join in wouldn't they, it may be helpful both ways.

I am a member on another forum and they have a section for adults with autism and it's very popular. As a parent of a child with autism, it's also very interesting to hear the views of adults who've grown up with the condition.

I think one of the positive on having a forum for adults with autism is that when they have a meltdown and voice it they will hopefully get a little more understanding from the other members.

Hello Everyone,
Great point Kev, many forums have a board for people with autism, perhaps the Neuro-typical members could see it as a safe room, rather like a quite room somewhere we may seek solice if needed as some people I know on the spectrum may only post within the room in question, besides we can all be somewhat literal in our language at times, so might feel more comfortable knowing we have a board to hide in if needed.

Hi All
Paula - why would it be excluding? Would it be solely for those on the spectrum to kind of "sound off" to each other? That would probably be a good idea, just like the room my son goes to in school when he feels overloaded. Would the users want NT input? or for this to be kept solely for ASDs, would us NT mothers looking to better understanding our children's thought processes etc be able to access the site even just to view not to participate?
Sorry for all the questions folks.

Hi all,
Sorry for the delay on responding to this. Thank you all for your suggestions and we have now added an area for people on the autism spectrum, called the Neurodiversity Room.
http://www.treehouse.org.uk/forums/neurodiversity-room
Feedback on this would be great. Please do go in and introduce yourself if you are on the autism spectrum.
Thanks,
Paula Barrett

Is there a specific forum for family members and not one for autistic people?
