Hi
My hubby and some other parents, helped by the Kent Autisic Trust and the Fathers Club in Maidstone, have started a group called TAPS (Tunbridge Wells Autism Parents Support). Meetings are at various times and dates and it's held at St Pauls Primary school in Rusthall. Just come along and have a chat - there will be a guest this Friday, who is a specialist teacher in communication and interaction.
The next meeting is at 1.30 on Friday 20th March. Further meetings are scheduled once a month, with some in the evening. If you'd like any further info. please contact me or my hubby (Ken) at Kenandnicki@aol.com

Hi louise ife
I found some information using the the NAS autism services directory - at www.autismdirectory.org.uk
There was a link on there for an organisation called BAPS (love that name!!) which is Bury Autistic Prents Society. Their website is www.baps-online.org
Hope that's of some help

Hi,
My family are part of MAGIC (Medway Autism Group & Info Ctr). It is based near Rochester in Kent http://www.medway-magic.org/ MAGIC runs a weekly youth club for children with Autism/Asperger's aged 10 and over, 2 play sessions in a local indoor soft play venue one for over 10's one for under 10's. and also a coffee morning every Friday and we try and get guest speakers in as regularly as possible (Paediatricians/OT's/Social Services etc...) Also for the first time this summer we are running a respite play scheme which is due to start next week!!
We are, on the whole, a group of parents who came to MAGIC for help, advice and information and never left!!

I was thinking......would it be helpful to have a PDF format leaflet that is downloadable (sp?!) from the forum? This way any one involved in a support group, or who would like to pass it on, could download, copy and hand out? What do you think?
Claire

Are you part of a local or national group? Do you have meetings, social activities or get togethers which might be of interest to other parents? Are you going to a national event and you want to discuss it? Are you taking part in a fundraising event or doing your own? Is there anything surrounding World Autism Day or other events which you'd like to talk about?
If so - please post up a topic in here. Please post up as much information as possible - where the event is, who the contact person is, how much it costs and anything else you can mention.
This is also a good place to discuss an event you went to in the past, training courses or regular activities.
Remember, many parents might be feeling isolated - so posting information on events here will really help others. : )
