Respite care / support

Hi

Wanted to start a disucssion  regarding any respite care or support people get.

Just to make sure everyone knows whats on offer and are accessing as much support as they can possibly get.

Hi Leanne

I dont know if you spotted the forum for posting any respite, support and carer groups that I posted a few weeks ago.  Some of the categories maybe dont have any info yet but there is a whole range of threads for groups from respite, to dads, siblings, carer groups, toddler groups etc.  Some of them have links that I found on the web and links that the others have added for groups that they have some knowledge of.

I am sure we discussed the different therapies and courses our kids have had as well somewhere but I cant remember where ;) My son has had a couple of Anger Management courses (when he was 7 and again at about 11), CBT and a SNAP course (Stop Now and Plan) to help him cope with difficult situations (peer pressure mostly).  The SNAP one had a parent one running in tandem where we, the parents, were given some advice on the "no", " be careful" and different everyday expressions that parents tend to use that cause confusion for our kids, use of charts, rewards, "routine" schedules etc (this therapy was through CAMHS and I know we have a thread about CAMHS so there's probably more from others in that thread).

Up at the top right corner of the screen there is a search box.  If you just type in a word, eg, respite, or CAMHS whatever it is you want to see if there is any info on and it will bring up a list of the posts containing that word.  I only found this out recently myself and it has been a Godsend as my memory is atrocious!!!  Hope it helps!!

Here's a link to the Group thread if you know of any more, add away:)

There's a thread about benefits as well somewhere and DLA and travel passes, CEA cinema passes etc.
