Thanks for the tip, Leanne!

hi,

I'm new to this site. i found it because I was Googling the programme "Young, Autistic & Stagestruck" My son Ben features in the programme. I have to say that although I was worried about how the programme would end up, it has been a really positive experience for me and Ben. It has made a huge difference to his outlook on life. we've seen the first 2 episodes and I think it's been really well done. It's all about the drama process that the kids went through with little snippets of their personal lives and it's done with a fair amount of humour in places.

I really hope people enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed taking part.

Hi Becky

Welcome to the group.   It certainly sounds like you and your son really benefitted from the experience of the show.  I have never seen it yet, but will be watching Monday.

Hi Becky, and welcome!

I haven't seen the show yet but I plan to catch up soon. It's really interesting to hear your perspective! I'm so glad to hear it's been a positive experience. I would love to hear more about Ben's thoughts!

Hi Becky,

Welcome to Treehouse !!

I have the series on sky plus and am looking forward to it :)

How did it change your sons outlook ?? Wasn't it a little daunting letting a film crew in :)

Leanne - Community Champion

It was daunting, and I was very worried about how we would be portrayed. Love Productions interviewed us all the time, followed us wherever we went and any chats between the parents were also filmed. I was concerned about all the personal stuff they had but we were able to watch the first 2 episodes. I was really pleased because Love decided to make it all about the drama journey - so whilst I am in it talking about Ben, it's not too much. It's all about the kids really which is how these things should be. It's also really funny in places. Ben has just seen himself in the TV magazines and enjoyed the attention he got from staff at Morrisons when they realised. He's just gone off to drama club and I was so proud to watch him showing an eager bunch of kids his magazine article.

Hi All

Well just watched the programme,

Becky, the first shots of Ben when he was telling the reporter that he was asking a stupid question and telling him he would have been as well holding it over the phone, I so related to this as it is exactly what Tom would say and I had a little chuckle at it, but later on when he was so upset and distressed I had a little cry myself.   Ben was so good with Molly as well when he went to chat to her behind the curtain.

I cant wait to see the next episode of this programme and find out the outcome of the different interactions.
