I know obsession of particular toys/films/ ood etc can be a part of Mark's Aspergers. We have been through a few, eating nothing but eggs. Watching a particular film over & over & over again, to the point of we can turn volume down & he could tell you the story.
However he has a real thing for Sheep & Giraffes, if we go out anywhere & he is allowed to buy something. The 1st thing he will look for is a Giraffe or Sheep soft toy. He has lots. His favourite is Mini Ma & she is a magnet sheep, he has one he is going to be taking to school because if he can't verbalise he can show with how he holds/what he does with Mini Ma.
Having worked with children on the autism spectrum previous to having Mark I knew a bit, but am learning even more all the time. Like today. Mark has a fantastic morning, his friend came round to play & they played in the garden.
They left & mark was curled up on sofa, we heard him scream out & then floods tears followed. We went rushing i, pancking at what we may find. What we found was Mark breaking his heart, holding something.We tried to calm him down but he was in such a state, he handed a small brown ball, we worked out it was cotton ball from Mini Ma's nose. He was absolutely devastated stormed off, things got thrown, he hit out. Everything. He said Mini ma was dead because she no longer had her nose.
He curled up with Daddy & mummy went off with Mini ma, I found some brown thread & remade the nostril. He was estastic. Never expected that reaction.
