I would love to talk about faith, but I'm not sure that this bit is the right bit to do it in.

Hi Amber...
I guess the best place would be to set up a faith link in the social room, what do you think? would that be ok?....I am not sure if people would find it here if it was just about faith...Becky may move it over on Tuesday when she is back...dont worry though as this post is related to education..... we can chat here till then either way :0)

for or against, amber?
i'm not anti-christian.
the maranatha school probably turns out pupils any parent would want : clean, polite, respectful, hard-working etc.
but thanks to a constricted curriculum (legalistic and literal interpretations of Biblical `truth`) it may be at the expense of their mental development in the round.

on a scale of 0 to 100 where 0= complete atheism to 100 where 100 =uncritical acceptance of religious belief.

tomorrow - may 6 - is the national day of prayer in the US!!

Which religious belief? I am 100% accepting of my own CofE Christian set of beliefs, but I can't possibly be 100% accepting of each other person's set of beliefs. I respect their right to hold them, though?

...The school building is an old farmhouse near Swindon, in a picture-postcard village on the hills. If you wandered into any of the classrooms here during an ordinary weekday, the first thing to strike you would simply be the absolute quietness that reigns under the big posters stating: "God loves the sparrow," or "God made everything in heaven and earth."
The children in these classrooms, who are aged all the way up to 18, are sitting at individual desks facing the wall, with high dividers between them so that each has to work alone.
This is a characteristic of ACE - discussion with fellow students or a teacher is not encouraged and the pupil studies, in silence, the booklets which begin with Bible verses and thread homilies on good Christian morals through every subject...

i think the educational system might suit many autists.
the peace and quiet would definitely have suited me
unfortunately a tendentious school curriculum is based on the belief that the Bible is the revealed word of God.
no plausible evidence for that, i'm afraid IMO - no offence to any forum readers who believe it.
re poster on school wall - "God loves the sparrow" : don't many sparrows DIE prematurely or get eaten by cats?
a strange way for the Almighty to show His love!
a superbly designed maranatha web site by the way BTW (/SARCASM) [as it's displayed in IE]
