This looks good, Michael.
The project started in Norwich and has been very successful.

i thought hospitals were pressed for cash.
guy's has just installed a large plasma tv in the anti-coagulation/oncology waiting room,
presumably and patronisingly they must think seriously ill patients can't be without `telly` for even a couple of hours.
the worst thing about tellies in waiting rooms is that the sound is always either entirely off or at such a low level that one can't listen to what is said - so one finds oneself vacuously watching sky news in vision only.
st thomas' hospital has the same system in its blood tests waiting room.

I think the TVs might be paid for by advertising agencies or charities. Sometimes ex-patients and their families raise sponsorship money for stuff like that. That's how the whole 'Calendar Girls' thing started. Would be interesting to know if they are actually paid for by hospital funds.
Have to admit though, having spent a week in hospital unable to sit up, I would have appreciated a TV to while away the hours. All I had was the radio in the staff area...I could just about hear it if the door was open and everyone else was quiet.
